![]() The science around COVID-19 is currently neither exact nor conclusive. No country is yet 100% in control of the pandemic or its impact on the lives of its citizens. So, for the vast majority the surrounding circumstances will be the most challenging they have every faced. When you are out of control, when you cannot fix things, when your helplessness starts to overwhelm, then all we as individuals can do is to take back control. We cannot control the circumstance around us, but we must be brave enough to take control of how we respond to them. That is going to be a whole lot easier if we do it together. So, in Mental Health Awareness week, seek out those that you have not heard from recently, send texts or emails to friends or relatives that you may have lost touch with. Phone people or even write a letter or post a card! Set up virtual meetings even if the person has never done it before. Even if you are in isolation and continue to social distance it does not mean you should leave others alone. Even if you do not believe you have the energy or desire to do it – try – stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit. This is Week 4 of the Third Grading Cycle. We are only three weeks from Christmas Break! Our third and final week will be district and teacher made ACPs. We will only have 2 weeks to push our scholars through to ACP victory! When I was in the third grade, I had to learn and recite a poem entitled "Don't Quit" for the school's oratorical contest. That year, I only received 1st runner up. I said the poem too fast and totally missed out on the meaning of the poem. The next year, I practiced much harder and slowed down. That is the year I won first place with the poem, "A Touch of the Master's Hand". It is at the moment that you feel the most defeated, that you do not quit!! We must all keep a "Don't Quit" attitude as we move towards the semester's end. ![]() In what ways can you encourage yourself to try again? How can you lead scholars to keep trying after failure? What real world and relevant stories can you share about having a "Don't Quit" attitude? I have copied the poem "Don't Quit" above. Please feel free to share it with your scholars as we approach ACP testing season. #JOHN GREENLEAF WHITTIER DONT QUIT FREE#.Posts using this tag may be subject to moderator approval. : For discussing the subreddit itself, or discussing other posts that appear on the subreddit. : For announcements about professional OPPORTUNITIES for prospective poets.
